Photo Friday – Inferior Mirage of the Sun (Edisto Beach)
Here’s another nine panel collage like last week, this time showing an inferior mirage of the sun at sunrise at Edisto Beach, South Carolina. Because this was at sunrise, the Omega stage of the mirage (because it looks like the Greek letter Ω) comes first, while the Etruscan Vase stage (named by Jules Verne) comes second. If it were at sunset, these stages would be reversed. The layer of air causing the mirage can be picked out in the photos, especially in panels 5 – 7, but can even be seen in panel 3 with the scalloped edges of the sun.
